Media: Women's representation and the Brazilian elections
The media has been paying particular attention to the role of women in the upcoming October elections in Brazil.
With less than two months before election day, a significant share of women remain undecided about whom to vote. Why are women taking longer to decide on who to vote for president than men ? I've spoken about this with the BBC and El País.
In 2014, the most recent national elections, Dilma Rousseff was reelected. This year, only two (of the 13) presidential candidates are women, but women occupy five vice-presidency nominations. I talked about this with the Deutsche Welle.
This is also the first year in which 30% of party campaign funds have to be reserved for women'. Will this increase the number of seats women currently occupy? I gave a lengthy interview covering this new rule, gender quotas, and candidate recruitment for Exame.
